Yemi Alade Releases Seventh Studio Album, ‘It’s Yemi Alade’

Nigerian Afropop singer Yemi Alade

Nigerian Afropop singer Yemi Alade has released her seventh studio album, It’s Yemi Alade, a 16-track project featuring a lineup of Nigerian and international African artistes.

The album was released on Friday, September 11, across major streaming platforms.

The self-titled project features collaborations with artistes including Don Jazzy, Teni, Fave, Spyro, Jeriq, Bien, Sofiya Nzau, Njerae, Ferre Gola and Singuila.

The release follows several singles from the project, including Don’t Be Shy featuring Kenyan singer Bien and Ala Bekee featuring Don Jazzy.

Ala Bekee was released in August, while Don’t Be Shy preceded the album as one of its lead singles.

The album continues Yemi Alade’s long-running emphasis on African sounds and collaborations. Its contributors span several countries and musical backgrounds, giving the project a distinctly pan-African character.

It’s Yemi Alade follows her 2024 album, Rebel Queen, and adds another full-length project to a discography that began with her 2014 debut album, King of Queens.

The new release also marks another chapter in Alade’s career as one of Nigeria’s prominent Afropop artistes, with the singer continuing to combine Nigerian music with influences and collaborations from across the continent.

The album is now available on major music streaming platforms.
